A laptop computer and digital camera valued at over $2,000 were stolen Sept. 11 when two men entered an unsecured off-campus residence in the 900 block of N. 17th St., saying they were undercover detectives looking for a suspect. They told the students to go into their bedrooms so the "detectives" could look for him. One student asked the men for identification at least two times. The students went into their bedrooms, and when they came out they found the items missing.

Green Bay Packer coach Mike McCarthy has been known to script many of the plays early in games, but for the Super Bowl he was apparently trying out a new method of drawing up play ideas. Either that, or he forgot to put the cap back on his red marker, which is a total rookie Super Bowl coach move. Who cares, anyhow, because the Packers are the Superbowl Champs, and someone washed it off for him by the second half.

The adage goes that if you can’t beat ‘em, join ‘em, so some local schools are issuing back to school lists for their students that might defy conventional wisdom. Students have long tried to get away with as much as they can, and when they are reprimanded, parents often step in and claim their child has the right to use that for which the child has been punished.
